Tricky Foods is a charcuterie and grazing table business that found its start during the 2020 pandemic. This hobby turned full-time gig is a favorite among the Madison, WI food and entertainment scene. Owner Therese Merkel created a loyal following on social using her bold, fun personality and–of course–delicious and beautiful food displays. Olio Studio partnered with Tricky Foods to create a full brand identity, building on the brand strategy Merkel had already established, and just in time to help guide in interior decisions for her first brick-and-mortar store!

Tricky Foods is a bold, boutique brand that communicates joy, delight, and fun through the use of color, pattern, and a series of custom-illustrated sticker icons. Visually, Trick Foods uses themes of organized disorder to show that while still a professional business, it’s okay to play with your food ;)
